Teaching Across Borders: Sheridan's Ecuadorian Adventure

Sheridan McKeithan, Kindergarten ELD teacher at Hiawatha Leadership Academy - Northrop, is currently working towards obtaining her Master's in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) at Hamline University. And she is set to complete the second half of her program student teaching in Quito, Ecuador! Her decision to teach in Ecuador is not just based on the country's beauty but also on the significant number of wonderful Ecuadorian students and families at Hiawatha. With the aim of becoming a better educator for this specific student population, she plans to immerse herself in Ecuadorian culture and learn more about it.

She is excited to try traditional Ecuadorian foods such as Guaguas de Pan and Colada Morada for Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and Independencia de Cuenca (Cuenca Independence Day)!

Sheridan will be back at Hiawatha Leadership Academy - Northrop on the first day after winter break. Join us in wishing her an amazing adventure. Good luck, Sheridan!
