The news of the past weeks has left many of our families, staff, and community members with mixed emotions as the future of DACA recipients unfolds. During these trying times, we want to reaffirm Hiawatha Academies’ unequivocal commitment to ensuring a safe educational environment for all students.

Last year, in response to the hateful rhetoric and executive orders targeting immigrants the organization created a Safe Haven Resolution in support of scholars and families threatened by immigration enforcement or discrimination.

This year, we continue to put every child at the center of everything we do and we ensuring we do this by providing staff and families with the necessary resources to stay safe and move forward.

We invite our families, staff, and allies to stay informed and engaged. Below is a list of upcoming events and legal clinics and resources you can review to get the most up to date information on DACA.

When communities come together and work towards creating equity for everyone, we all benefit as a society. Immigrants are part of the fabric of the American story and what makes this community a thriving, innovative, and healthy community. We are hopeful and optimistic for our scholars and their families. Thank you for joining us in defending every scholar’s dreams.
